About Me

From an early age I enjoyed listening to many different genres of music, however as I got older I started to develop an ear for a certain type of music that had big beats and big basslines, early influences would be bands like Prodigy & Beastie Boys. At around the age of 11 I remember hearing a compilation tape called 'Jungle Mania' and I washooked! I went to my first rave at Mr B's when I was 12 (smuggled in via the fire exit by my brother's mates!) and heard a DJ called 'Grooverider'. Fast forward 5 or so years and I started to go to raves such as Helter Skelter, Slammin Vinyl and One Nation with my friends. In 2001 (at the tender age of 20) I decided to buy some turntables and try my hand(s) at mixing, again I was hooked and after 3 months I felt confident enough to play out and set up a night with DJ Replay at alocal pub, the night was called 'Urban Desire'. After a further 3months I got my first residency with the club night 'Expressions', I met many interesting people and played alongside such DJ's as DangerousD, Skitty, Pace, Replay, Astro, Intacep, Etha, Sulley and many others. 'Expressions' gave me the opportunity to play at some top local venues such as 'Mezzanine' 'Legends' and 'The Planet'. I then got another residency through Griff and CeeGee at 'Highrise'. I also played on the radio stations 'Midland Underground' and 'District FM', who gave me the opportunity to play at other venues like 'The Canal Club' and 'The City Bar'. I then took a few years off from DJ'ing to concentrate on my production work and it put my 'musical style' into perspective, I am still producing today but not as much as I would like. In 2007 myself, Replay and Kibit set up 'Urban Desire Radio' where I present 'TheFreakshow'. We later set up events at 'The Poets Corner' and continue to do so today, to showcase the talent that our station has to offer.
